| The members of the Moscow String Quartet have earned a place among the most distinguished artists of today. All honors' graduates of the Moscow Conservatory and Gnessin Musical University (Moscow), they were students of the eminent professors. Euguenia Alikhanova, violinist, graduated from the Moscow Conservatory from the class of Yuri Yankelevich, who was one of the greatest masters of the Russian violin school. Among his students are world known violinists such as Vladimir Spivakov, Victor Tretyakov and Dmitry Sitkovetsky. Violinist Galina Kokhanovskaia was a student of the well-known Russian performer and teacher Leonid Polies. Tatiana Kokhanovskaia, viola, graduated from the class of professor Genrikh Talalian, a member of the famous Komitas String Quartet. Cellist Olga Ogranovitch was a student of one of the most outstanding chamber musicians of the world professor Valentin Berlinsky, a founder of the Borodin Quartet. After graduating, the musicians organized a quartet and returned for postgraduate training under the supervision of professor Valentin Berlinsky. The quartet has concertized extensively since 1975. |
