String Teacher. The Sun Valley Summer Symphony Music Conservatory invites applications for a string teacher to play a key role in developing a growing string program in Sun Valley, ID starting in September 2002. The Music Conservatory provides tuition-free year-round quality music education and training to area students in grades 6-12 and consists of two semesters from September through April. Duties: Teach private violin and viola lessons, conduct or assist with advanced string ensemble and orchestra, and coach chamber music. This is a part-time job with a minimum of 20 hours per week. It is highly likely that additional employment could include opportunities that will meet unfilled requirements of the community (for example, the establishment of a developmental program to feed into the Conservatory; a private studio for beginning to advanced youth and adult students; possible part time employment though the local school district; and occasional performance opportunities with local theater groups and a thriving community chorus which programs masterworks with orchestra each year). Sun Valley is a resort community located in central Idaho at the edge of the Sawtooth and Challis National Forests. Residents take pride in high quality education provided by area schools, great recreation, stunning landscape and a wholesome environment. Sun Valley is also home to an exciting arts scene that includes symphony, jazz and chamber music concerts, as well as art galleries, craft shows, theater productions, and a film festival. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education required, Master’s preferred; proficiency in upper string instruments. Salary commensurate with experience and educational level. Applications will be considered upon receipt and reviewed until position is filled. Please mail, fax or email a letter of interest with resume, three current letters of recommendation and transcripts (unofficial photocopies acceptable) to the following: Virginia Allen, Artistic Director, SVSSMC, One Columbus Place #S8E, New York, NY 10019; Phone: 212-262-9176; Fax: 801-409-4223; email: ginnyallen@sprintmail.com |
