: Wrong seating #1 is where the cellos sit where the violas usually are. Wrong seating #2 is sitting next to the first violins where the seconds usually are. Each seating has distinct disadvantages. Thanks to David Sanders for coming up with our new terminology!

Honestly, I don't understand what the fuss is all about. Why are we so set in our ways? Listen to yourselves. I have been palying in orchestras for a long time -- and have sat in several different locations -- including on risers (try that!) -- I even played in a string quartet on top of a 30 foot high scaffold, during a college variety show -- we were playing "Volga Boat Man." The scaffold was being pushed across the stage, very slowly. When we were nearly across the stage the scaffold hit a cable -- the Volga Boat Man became the Flying Dutchman! :-)

Really! Open up your minds. . . .repeat after me "Change can be good! Change can be good! Change can be good!"

For optional seating arrangements,

Yours truly,

Steve
