Alexander Kaganovsky was born in Ukraine, where he won the Ukraine competition at the age of sixteen. Following his immigration to Israel in 1974, he studied under Prof. Uzi Wiezel and won first prize in the Academy's competition. He was co-principal cellist in the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and since 1982 solo cellist of the Jerusalem Symphony. In 1992 he was appointed acting principal cellist in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he has been a member since 1986. |
