MASTER COURSE FOR YOUNG CONCERT ARTISTS– VRATZA ’99
COURSE SUMMARY
There are three phases of participation:
Phase A:
The instrumentalists will participate in private coaching sessions with major teachers on their respective instruments. Repertoire will include concertos and solo pieces from the instrument's literature.
Phase B:
All active participants will perform as soloist in 2 concerts with the Vratza State Symphony. Those concerts will be recorded on a video-cassette and each participant will receive a free copy of his/her performance.
Phase C:
The chosen instrumentalists will receive the opportunity to make a master recording of their performance, accompanied by the Vratza State Symphony. Those performances will be released on a Compact Disc, under the label “Young Talents”. Each participant will receive 50 free copies of the CD.
(The recording and digital re-mastering will be performed by some of the best sound engineers at the Bulgarian Radio. These engineers have made hundreds of professional recordings and have worked with famous music houses such as EMI, Teldec, and Sony Classical.)
Audition procedures:
The applications will be reviewed as they are received. Applicants meeting with approval will be scheduled for an audition. The audition will determine which applicants will become active participants in the course.
The audition will take place on July 8th, 1999, in Vratza’s Grand Concert Hall. There will be a maximum of 12 active participants in each class. At the end of Phase B, the professors and the orchestra members will chose the participants for Phase C, the recording on CD.
Fee Information:
The soloists will be responsible for paying a small portion of the actual expenses. In case there are sufficient funds for financing the final part, it is possible that the fees for Phase C will be reduced.

Active Participants:
A. - A fee for Phases A and B ( includes video recording) - USD 560
B. - A fee for Phase C - USD 80 per recorded minute. ( including a Master digital recording, producing and releasing the CD’s, as well as 50 free copies for each participant).
C. Non-active Participants: - Audit Fee - USD 120
Fees do not include travel, room or board. If desired by the participant, assistance with finding accommodations is available. The cost for a room in a private house or a dorm will vary between $10 and $20 per day.
The fee payment can be made by bank transfer, check or credit card. All applicable charges regarding the payments or the transfer will be
responsibility of the sender.
