I know just what you're talking about! It's always interesting
for me to listen to music with my friends. They always act
surprised if I can identify the artist in an alternative rock piece,
or sing along with a current pop tune. However, if I can't identify a
song that they all can, somebody almost always will say, "Oh..that's right,
you listen to *classical* music."
I sometimes wonder where there is a law that says that classical
music fans must hate all other kinds of music. Sure, I love
classical a lot. Most of it...but I dislike some classical pieces in the same way
I dislike some rock pieces!
I think the best way to get a lot out of music is to listen to different
varieties. I have CDs of everything from Desi Arnaz to Fiona Apple to Gershwin!
I also enjoy playing jazz, pop, 60's tunes and opera on my cello!

PS - Isn't that Big Bad Voodoo Daddies CD great?
