The input I got from you helped in our presentation to
the Superintendent of Schools this morning. It was a
very positive meeting. The discouraging part was to
learn how misled we had been by the Music Dept head whose
"baby" is the marching band. He is, sadly, so wrapped
up in the pageantry of his prize-winning band that he
gave us all sorts of reasons for things happening in
the string department that simply aren't true. I am
very glad we persisted and took things to the next level
where I am hopeful we will see serious action taken.
The string program is so small it's remained in a little
niche and I don't think anyone knew anything about it.
This guy certainly didn't know there are 30 celli sitting
unused in one school. We had several ideas that the music
director told us wouldn't work, and today we found out
that they CAN work. I feel like I'm in a poker game and
I need to be a better player to know who the good guys
are, who's bluffing, when to show my cards. I don't
usually feel this way, but suddenly winning has become
VERY important. Thanks again for the support!!!!
