Susan, my bowhair rarely breaks or falls out either. It's not unusual! But, in my experience, the hair becomes "glassy" when it is worn out. By glassy, I mean that even with sufficient rosin there is still not enough 'pull' on the string from the bow. When in doubt, rehair! Especially if it has been a year. Once a year is the most amount of time you should have between rehairs, and it is probable that most of us on the board average more than that! I myself seem to do just fine on two rehairs a year, and I do play every day. Mostly, when I am not spending too much time having fun on the COMPUTER!
