Mr. Welk's music was of course not "high brow." But, he brought joy to millions for twenty years by his music. Compared to him, what do we all have to show for our efforts? Another thought, would it be far from wrong to say that Haydn (for example) was the Lawrence Welk of his time? I'd just as soon play a LW arrangement as some of Haydn's oom pa pas.
