Those who spoke about angling the bow slightly upwards toward the fingerboard on the downbow may have been referring to the Sazer approach. However, in this method you are still PULLING the bow along a path that is parallel to the bridge while the bow is slightly angled, so there is a naturally increased friction or resistance created. You do not pull the bow along a path which is in line with the bow stick itself; therefore you do not have the problem of having to extend your arm way out on a downbow. Hope this is clear.
