I think a paradigm shift is happening right now in the actual physical performance of music. And in this country, the gogmagogs may turn out to be the prime movers.

workshops for string players
A chance to find out what this extraordinary company of moving musicians is all about!
Workshops exploring ways of playing and moving which involve your whole body and personality. Working with theatre director, Lucy Bailey and violinist, Nell Catchpole, you will discover ways of extending musical expression through physical expression with an exciting 'performance language' full of humour and physical vitality.
The workshop will feed into your development as a string player in several areas including; musical/physical ensemble, stage presence and communication, your physical relationship with your instrument, and tensions associated with playing and performance. You don’t need to have any previous experience in theatre or dance in order to attend.
The workshops are open to string players (violin, viola, 'cello, or double bass) of 18 years or above who are of a professional standard or studying to become a professional player.
There is a choice of two week-ends:
17 & 18 July 10am -5pm
OR
7 and 8 August 10am – 5pm
They will be held in Bethnal Green, London. The charge for attending a week-end is £120. Places are limited.
