At this week's set of Chicago Symphony concerts, the Russian Violinist Repin played with us. He performed the John Adams Violin Concerto, with Adams conducting. As an encore, he played an absolutely SPECTACULAR "Carnaval of Venice"!! I know he's not a cellist(!), but if you want to hear some staggeringly great playing, check out his disc on the Erato label with all the showpieces...truly a marvel! Best wishes to all-
