Dear DG,
Also sorry. The past is passed.
Regarding the Shulman, I also have that Rose recording. A friend taped the rebroadcast many years ago and it IS one of THE truly astonishing cello performances. I won't be surprised if this item creeps into a NY Phil fundraising CD at some point soon (at least I hope so.)
I know that Mr. Shulman has many recordings because he contacted me once after I gave a presentation of historic cello records to the Chicago Cello Society. He expressed concern at my neglect of Felix Salmond's (one of his teachers) recordings. I was guilty at that particular session, but had presented Salmond recordings at previous presentations. Thanks for reminding me about Mr. Shulman. I just accessed his bio on the web and I see that he would be 84 this year. I hope he is well. I'm sure he would be a treasure-trove of information!! Gary
