Each year we have invited world class cellists to Wichita State University to perform, teach and collaborate with other cellists in the region. The festivals have been a source of inspiration for all ages and always leave participants with fond memories.
Past guests include Lazlo Varga, Yehuda Hanani, Zvi Maschkowski, and Takayori Atsumi.
This year's soloist is one of the premier cellists playing today...from Europe to Japan...even with our own Wichita Symphony! In November 1990, Wendy Warner was awarded First Prize in the Fourth International Rostropovich Competition in Paris. Jury member Frans Helmerson, the distinguished Swedish cellist, was quoted in The New York Times as saying, "She has a natural stage presence that you rarely find...she's unbelievable."
We hope you'll come and discover what a talent she is at the 1998 WSU Cello Festival.
