Description:
It is time for me to sell my instrument, built in Seattle in 1992 by prize winning maker Erich Schweiger. If you are a cellist looking for an instrument which really sings, is beautifully balanced from bottom to top and has a wonderfully complex sound, please keep reading. It has been difficult to let go of this instrument, but an old wrist injury has finally stopped a long career of teaching and performing, so I am hoping to sell it to someone who can play and enjoy it. This is a great opportunity for someone who needs to upgrade to a completely professional outfit, as I'm selling it with a John Norwood Lee bow valued at $2,500 (I love this bow), and a Ruth Warner bow appraised recently at $2,000, as well as a streamlined, lightweight case. The cello has been kept in excellent shape, almost all work done by the original maker and the rest by the R.L. Ray violin shop in Olympia, which has also recently cleaned and rehaired both bows. It shows a little wear as it should having been played in solo, chamber and orchestral venues for 15 years, but is in perfect shape; it has a beautiful red finish which is aging nicely. I am interested in selling the instrument, bows and case together to someone who needs them and will use them; while the cello and bows are appraised at more than $22,000 and $15,000 is probably a steal, I will listen to other offers from the right person. I will not lend the instrument out or ship it for trial; if you are interested please make an appointment to try it at our studio using the e-mail address above (vls@drizzle.com).
