Laurinel Owen

Laurinel Owen’s many articles have appeared in Strings and The Strad magazines, as well as the New York Cello Society Newsletter and the British Cello Club Bulletin. She is currently teaching at Adelphi University, is a chamber music coach at Wood Song Festival in Washington, and performs with the Trio Musica Mundi and the North Shore Pro Musica. She is also a consultant for the D’Addario String Co., and an organizer for the Kronberg Academy in Germany. Ms. Own studied with Lynn Harrell, Raya Garbousova and William Pleeth. She played with the Filarmonica de las Americas in Mexico City and became solo cellist in the Scottish Baroque Ensemble in Edinburgh. She was then appointed principal cellist with the National Symphony Orchestra of South Africa in Johannesburg. As soloist and chamber musician she has toured southern Africa and South America, and has recorded for Dutch Radio, the South African Broadcasting Corp., Radio France, Cablevision TV and TCI Cable TV.
