Terry King

Terry King was a protégé of Gregor Piatigorsky and a former assistant to him in the famous master classes at the University of Southern California. Many prominent American composers have written works for Mr. King and he has premiered, commissioned and recording important cello compositions by celebrated masters including Roy Harris, Virgil Thomson, Cowell, Creston, Copland, Lou Harrison, Foss, Rosza and Lalo Schifrin.

Mr. King is a member of the Mirecourt Trio and is presently engaged in several recording projects, including the critically acclaimed Cello America series on the Music & Arts label. The projects encompass the major works for cello, including the most important works by American composers. Mr. King has also recorded for MCA, ABC Classics, CRI, Innova, Genesis, Orion, Ode, A&M, Bay Cities, Gasparo, Varese Sarabande, Albany and TR Records. He currently teaches at the Longy and Hartt Schools of Music.
