ROLAND SIEMONS

My name is Roland Siemons, and I am a dedicated amateur cellist. I started cello lessons when I was 12 years old at my town's music school. Later I was so lucky as to get regular lessons from Max Werner, the former solo cellist of the Dutch Radio Chamber Orchestra, driving force of the Gaudeamus String Quartett and teacher at the Enschede Conservatorium.

My favourite cello music is Saint Saens's first concerto, Beethoven's second sonata opus 105 (I performed them myself) as well as Milhaud's two cello concerto's (The greatest performance I know of the latter is by Stanislav Apolin).

My greatest event in cello playing was to play Bruch's Kol Nidrei and Dvorak's Rondo with the Lanka Philharmonic Orchestra in Colombo (Sri Lanka). (I worked in Sri Lanka for a while).

Wish you lots of joy with the cello!
